Message I’ll be doing turbo upgrade and I need the feedback for [ [ www.zcargarage.com ] ] and [ [ www.exactmotorsports.com. ] ] Anybody have/ had experience with them. OR know any other good shops for Z around the Bay Area. I’m located near San Francisco.
I want to do these things below
JWT Sport 530BB Turbo
MS Manifolds
SZ 3” Expansion down pipes
SZ 3” Test Pipes
SZ 3” dual tips cat back
Nismo 740cc injectors with 300degree fuel rails
JWT dual pops (may be 2 MAFs set up w/ AFC)
Blitz SBC ID III boost controller
Koyo Radiator
HI water pump pulley w/ belts
SS oil lines and gaskets for sport 530bb
Z1 one piece driveshaft and maintenance items such as NGK # 7 Spark plugs, Oxygen sensors, EFI wiring harness w/ PTU, Knock sensor w/ harness and valve cover gaskets etc..
For one things that I have Auto trans but I’m interested in converting to 5 Speed. I asked Greg Dupree @ SpecialtyZ about turbos and other things cause I’ll be buying from him and Greg told me auto is quicker than manual but auto trans does need to be upgraded to hold the higher power. I asked him how to upgrade. He said he can upgrade/ modify my auto trans with the price of $2500. I need to send my trans to them and pay shipping back and forth. He suggested me that i should get Precision Industries torque converter and auto trans Flex Plate. So, if I stick with auto, I gonna have to spend $2500 for trans to be upgraded + $900 for torque converter + $475 for Flex plate + $80 for external tranny cooler and $300 for HKS ALC (not sure need it or not) which is like $4255. john@ exactmotorsports suggested me to get level10 tranny instead because it comes with torque converter which is like $4000 or so. Either way, at this price range I’d rather do manual conversion . ANY IDEA???

I talked to rob @ zcargarage and john @ exactmotorsports. John said $3500 plus another 10-12 hour labor he didn’t say exactly because he said he never done this kind of job/ conversion before. Rob@ zcargarage said it gonna take 38 hour labor for turbo installation along with other supporting mods ($3300) and for 5 speed conversion he never done either. He said he cannot give me the quote right away. He gonna has to figure out and email me. I want to know the price they asking is usual for this kind of job. Any body know good Z shop with reasonable price around bay area or EVEN Southern CALIFONIA. I’m willing to travel if it is reputable shop with reasonable price. Please let me know. I asked Greg and he said they can’t do any major job 2 years back log now
